Product Overview

The 0.6/1kV Aerial Bundled Cable (ABC) from East Energy Electrical Engineering is a high‑performance overhead power distribution solution, engineered exclusively to meet AS/NZS 3560.1 – the benchmark for reliability in Australian and New Zealand climates.

This cable combines advanced manufacturing craftsmanship with premium materials to deliver exceptional durability, making it ideal for both rural and urban power networks facing harsh environmental conditions such as:

  • Extreme heat – Australian outback, desert regions

  • High humidity – coastal Queensland, tropical North Queensland

  • Alpine cold – New Zealand South Island, Snowy Mountains

  • High wind zones – cyclone‑prone areas, coastal exposure

  • High UV exposure – Australian and New Zealand summer conditions

Core Construction

ComponentMaterial OptionsKey Property
Phase conductorsAluminum alloy (AAAC) or aluminum (AAC)High conductivity, lightweight, corrosion resistant
Neutral messengerAluminum alloy (integrated)Optional, simplifies installation
InsulationUV‑resistant cross‑linked polyethylene (XLPE)Excellent electrical properties, thermal stability
Outer jacketBlack high‑density polyethylene (HDPE)Maximum mechanical & environmental protection

Insulation and jacket features:

  • UV‑resistant XLPE – prevents degradation from prolonged sun exposure

  • Black HDPE jacket – abrasion resistance, moisture barrier, chemical protection

  • Flame‑retardant – per IEC 60332‑1 (self‑extinguishing)

Innovative Design

  • Optional integrated neutral messenger wire – simplifies installation while meeting strict grounding requirements

  • Compact bundling – multiple insulated conductors twisted together for space efficiency

  • Color‑coded phase identification – red, white, blue for 3‑phase; black for neutral (per AS/NZS standard)

Temperature Range & Environmental Performance

ParameterValue
Continuous operating temperature–40°C to +90°C
Maximum short‑circuit temperature250°C (for up to 5 seconds)
Minimum installation temperature–5°C (must be pre‑warmed below 0°C)
Flame retardancyIEC 60332‑1 (self‑extinguishing)

This ABC cable excels in extreme heat, cold, and high‑humidity environments – from coastal regions to alpine areas, including:

  • Coastal installations – salt spray, high humidity, cyclonic winds

  • Desert environments – UV exposure, extreme daytime heat

  • Mountainous terrain – low temperatures, ice loading, high winds

  • Urban networks – space‑constrained overhead installations

Applications

Rural Power Networks

  • Farm electrification – remote properties, irrigation pumps, shearing sheds

  • Outback communities – reliable power in remote and isolated areas

  • Mining sites – temporary and permanent overhead power supply

  • Telecommunication towers – power supply for remote base stations

Urban Power Distribution

  • Residential subdivisions – overhead supply to new housing developments

  • Commercial areas – shopping centers, industrial estates, business parks

  • Street lighting – power supply for public lighting systems

  • Renewable energy connections – solar farm and wind farm grid connections

Special Applications

  • Coastal resorts – salt‑resistant construction for marine environments

  • Alpine villages – low‑temperature performance for ski resorts and mountain communities

  • Industrial zones – high current capacity for factory and warehouse power supply

Installation Guidelines

Preparation

  • Cable handling – avoid dragging over sharp edges; use rollers for long pulls

  • Minimum bending radius – 8 × cable diameter (installation), 6 × cable diameter (fixed)

  • Temperature – do not install below –5°C without pre‑warming

Pole Mounting

  • Suspension clamps – use ABC‑specific clamps to avoid insulation damage

  • Dead‑end clamps – use pre‑formed dead‑ends or compression dead‑ends

  • Pole spacing – typical 50–80 meters (depends on conductor size and local weather)

Jointing and Termination

  • Joints – use ABC‑specific joints with insulation restoration

  • Terminations – use ABC termination kits (indoor or outdoor)

  • Grounding – connect neutral messenger to pole ground at regular intervals (per AS/NZS 3560.1)
