East Energy Electrical Engineering presents the 0.6/1kV Aerial Bundled Cable (ABC) – a high-performance overhead power distribution solution engineered exclusively to meet AS/NZS 3560.1 standards – the benchmark for reliability in Australian and New Zealand climates.
This cable integrates advanced manufacturing craftsmanship with premium materials to deliver exceptional durability, making it ideal for both rural and urban power networks facing harsh environmental conditions, including:
Extreme heat (Australian outback, desert regions)
High humidity (coastal Queensland, tropical North Queensland)
Alpine cold (New Zealand South Island, Snowy Mountains)
High wind zones (cyclone-prone areas, coastal exposure)
High UV exposure (Australian and New Zealand summer conditions)
At its core, the cable features:
| Component | Material Options | Key Property |
|---|---|---|
| Phase conductors | Aluminum alloy (AAAC) or aluminum (AAC) | High conductivity, lightweight, corrosion-resistant |
| Neutral messenger | Aluminum alloy (integrated) | Optional, simplifies installation |
| Insulation | UV-resistant cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) | Excellent electrical properties, thermal stability |
| Outer jacket | Black high-density polyethylene (HDPE) | Maximum mechanical and environmental protection |
Insulation and jacket features:
UV-resistant XLPE – prevents degradation from prolonged sun exposure
Black HDPE jacket – provides abrasion resistance, moisture barrier, and chemical protection
Flame-retardant properties – per IEC 60332-1 (self-extinguishing)
The innovative design includes:
Optional integrated neutral messenger wire – simplifying installation while ensuring compliance with strict grounding requirements
Compact bundling – multiple insulated conductors twisted together for space efficiency
Color-coded phase identification – red, white, blue for 3-phase; black for neutral (per AS/NZS standard)
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Continuous operating temperature | –40°C to +90°C |
| Maximum short-circuit temperature | 250°C (for up to 5 seconds) |
| Minimum installation temperature | –5°C (cable must be pre-warmed below 0°C) |
| Flame retardancy | IEC 60332-1 (self-extinguishing) |
This ABC cable excels in extreme heat, cold, and high-humidity environments – from coastal regions to alpine areas, including:
Coastal installations (salt spray, high humidity, cyclonic winds)
Desert environments (UV exposure, extreme daytime heat)
Mountainous terrain (low temperatures, ice loading, high winds)
Urban networks (space-constrained overhead installations)
Farm electrification – supplying power to remote properties, irrigation pumps, and shearing sheds
Outback communities – reliable power distribution in remote and isolated areas
Mining sites – temporary and permanent overhead power supply
Telecommunication towers – power supply for remote base stations
Residential subdivisions – overhead supply to new housing developments
Commercial areas – shopping centers, industrial estates, business parks
Street lighting – power supply for public lighting systems
Renewable energy connections – solar farm and wind farm grid connections
Coastal resorts – salt-resistant construction for marine environments
Alpine villages – low-temperature performance for ski resorts and mountain communities
Industrial zones – high current capacity for factory and warehouse power supply
