Product Description

Medium voltage (MV) power cables are essential components in power distribution networks, connecting substations, transformers, switchgear, and renewable energy systems. Designed for reliable operation in utility, industrial, and infrastructure applications, these cables offer a balance of electrical performance, mechanical durability, and environmental resistance.
Low dielectric losses – XLPE and EPR insulation materials minimize energy waste during power transmission
Optimized conductor design – reduces I²R losses through high-purity copper or aluminum
High ampacity – allows more power transmission with less conductor material
Reduced operating temperature – extends cable life and improves system efficiency
Moisture resistance – water-blocking materials and impermeable sheaths prevent water ingress
Chemical resistance – withstands exposure to oils, acids, alkalis, and industrial pollutants
UV radiation resistance – UV-stabilized outer sheaths for outdoor and overhead installations
Abrasion resistance – robust sheathing materials protect against mechanical wear during installation and service
Corrosion resistance – suitable for coastal, industrial, and underground environments
Flame-retardant materials – PVC and LSZH sheaths self-extinguish per IEC 60332
Low-smoke materials – LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) options reduce toxic gas emissions in confined spaces (e.g., tunnels, substations)
Fire-resistant options – cables available with fire-resistant construction per IEC 60331
Electrical safety – proper grounding and shielding reduce shock and fault risks
Partial discharge control – semiconductor layers and smooth insulation surfaces minimize PD activity
Armored options – steel wire armor (SWA) or steel tape armor (STA) for mechanical protection in direct burial or harsh environments
Non-armored options – lighter, more flexible cables for tray, conduit, or overhead installations
Bending performance – designed to meet minimum bending radius requirements (12–20× cable diameter)
Easy termination – compatible with standard cold shrink and heat shrink accessories
>30 years under standard operating conditions (per IEC 60502)
Thermal stability – XLPE insulation rated for continuous operation at 90°C; EPR up to 105°C
Aging resistance – materials tested for thermal, electrical, and environmental aging
Maintenance-free – no periodic servicing required under normal conditions
Applications
- Power Distribution Networks: Substations, transformers, and switchgear.
- Industrial Plants: Mining, oil & gas, and manufacturing facilities.
- Renewable Energy: Wind farms, solar parks, and hydropower stations.
-Infrastructure:Underground metro systems, airports, and hospitals.
Construction
MV cables feature a robust layered design for optimal performance:
1. Conductor: High-purity copper or aluminum (stranded/solid) per IEC 60228.
2. Conductor Screen: Semiconducting layer to minimize electric field stress.
3. Insulation: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) or ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) for thermal stability.
4. Insulation Screen: Semiconducting layer to ensure uniform voltage distribution.
5. Metallic Shield: Copper wire/tape or aluminum armor for grounding and fault protection.
6. Outer Sheath: PVC, LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen), or HDPE for mechanical and environmental protection.
Key Parameters
- Voltage Rating: 1 kV to 36 kV (U0/U: 0.6/1 kV to 26/36 kV).
- Temperature Range:
- Normal Operation: -40°C to +90°C (XLPE), -50°C to +105°C (EPR).
- Short-Circuit: Up to +250°C (XLPE), +250°C (EPR).
- Current Carrying Capacity: Varies with conductor size (e.g., 240 mm² to 1000 mm²).
- Bending Radius: 12–20× cable diameter (depends on construction).
