The Aerial Bundled Cable (ABC) is a modern overhead power distribution solution designed to meet IEC 60228 and British Standard BS 7870. It consists of multiple insulated conductors (aluminum or copper) bound together with a durable, UV-stabilized outer binder, forming a compact and weather-resistant assembly. The insulation is made of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) or polyethylene (PE), providing excellent electrical strength, thermal stability, and resistance to environmental stress.
Compared to traditional bare overhead conductors, ABC cables significantly improve safety by eliminating the risk of accidental contact with live wires. The bundled structure also allows for narrower right-of-way, lower installation height, and reduced phase-to-phase faults caused by tree branches, debris, or animals. This makes ABC the preferred choice for densely populated areas, coastal regions, mountainous terrain, and industrial zones worldwide.
Fully Insulated Conductors – Eliminates direct contact hazards for people, wildlife, and workers; reduces short circuits caused by external factors.
Compact Bundled Design – Requires less clearance and narrower right-of-way, ideal for space-constrained urban environments.
High Mechanical Strength – Withstands heavy wind, snow, ice loads, and abrasion; UV-stabilized binding prevents long-term degradation.
Compliance with IEC & British Standards – Certified to IEC 60228 (conductors) and BS 7870 (aerial bundled cables), ensuring global grid compatibility.
Low Maintenance & Long Life – Enclosed insulation protects against corrosion, moisture, and chemicals, reducing lifecycle costs.
Thermal Management – XLPE/PE insulation offers high heat resistance, enabling safe operation within rated current limits.

Q: What voltage range is available for this ABC cable?
A: Our ABC cable is available from 1 kV to 36 kV, covering low-voltage and medium-voltage distribution networks.
Q: Is the binding material UV resistant?
A: Yes, the outer binder is made of UV-stabilized polymer, preventing cracking or weakening from prolonged sunlight exposure.
Q: How does bundling affect thermal performance?
A: The design includes thermal management. XLPE insulation has high heat resistance (up to 90°C continuous), ensuring safe operation within rated current.
Q: Does ABC cable require special installation tools?
A: Standard overhead line tools can be used. However, proper tensioning and spacing techniques are recommended; we provide installation guidelines upon request.
Q: Can I get a custom conductor material (copper) or insulation type?
A: Yes. Copper conductors and PE insulation are available as options. Please specify your requirements when ordering.
