Confirm the system voltage does not exceed the cable rating:
H07Z-U/R: 450/750V (U₀/U), suitable for low-voltage power and control circuits.
For three-phase 400V systems, 450/750V is standard. For lower-voltage control circuits, this rating provides adequate margin.
H07Z-U (solid): Suitable for fixed installations where the cable is not subject to movement or repeated bending. Easier to terminate in some terminal types.
H07Z-R (stranded, flexible): Better for routing through conduits with bends, and for connections requiring some flexibility during installation. Not intended for continuous flexing; use H07Z-K for higher flexibility.
Select U for simple fixed wiring; select R when installation requires easier pulling and bending.
Choose the conductor size based on:
Continuous load current
Permissible voltage drop
Ambient temperature and grouping
Short-circuit withstand
Typical range: 0.5 mm² to 240 mm². Common sizes for panel and building wiring: 1.5, 2.5, 4, 6, 10, 16, 25, 35 mm².
Halogen-free thermoplastic insulation: Rated 70°C continuous conductor temperature.
Low smoke and zero halogen: Meets IEC 60754 (halogen acid gas) and IEC 61034 (smoke density) when tested.
Flame retardant: Complies with IEC 60332-1 for single cable vertical flame propagation.
Confirm that the selected product meets the specific fire performance requirements of the project.
Public buildings and high-occupancy areas: Required where toxic gas and smoke emission must be minimized.
Tunnels, underground stations, and enclosed spaces: Low smoke emission aids evacuation and firefighting.
Hospitals, schools, data centers: Protect sensitive equipment and people from corrosive gases.
Outdoor or wet locations: H07Z-U/R is primarily for indoor fixed installations. For outdoor or wet areas, confirm suitability or consider alternative insulation.
High-temperature areas: Verify ambient temperature against the 70°C conductor limit.
Fixed installation: Typically 4 × outer diameter for unarmoured cable.
During installation: Avoid sharp bends that could damage insulation.
Select colors for phase, neutral, and protective earth:
Phase: Black, brown, grey.
Neutral: Blue.
Protective earth: Green/yellow.
Other: Red, white, orange for control or signal wiring.
Confirm against local wiring codes and project specifications.
H07Z-U/R: EN 50525-3-31, IEC 60227 (where applicable), VDE 0281-9.
Halogen-free: IEC 60754-1/2.
Smoke density: IEC 61034-1/2.
Flame retardance: IEC 60332-1.
RoHS / REACH: Confirm compliance if required.
Request test reports or certificates of conformity as needed.
Coils: 100 m, 200 m, or custom.
Drums: For larger cross-sections or long lengths.
Cut lengths: Pre-cut with ferrules or terminals if required.
Confirm packaging to protect insulation during transport and storage.
